Dr. Jamila Chouqar is an assistant professor at Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, Morocco, specializing in exoplanetary science. She earned her PhD in astrophysics from Cadi Ayyad University, focusing on the characterization of exoplanetary atmospheres. She later joined the ExoTIC Research Group at Liège University as a postdoctoral fellow, where she contributed to comparative atmospheric studies of Super-Earths orbiting M-dwarfs.
Dr. Chouqar has been a research fellow at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics on multiple occasions, collaborating with experts on exoplanetary atmospheres. She continues to work with the CfA, contributing to international research efforts in planetary science. In recognition of her outstanding PhD research, she was awarded the AfAS PhD Prize in 2022.
Beyond her research, Dr. Chouqar is actively involved in scientific outreach and community-building efforts. She is a member of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and the High Energy Physics and Astrophysics Club, contributing to the development of astrophysics in Morocco and beyond. She played a key role in organizing the 8th Oukaimeden International School for Astrophysics and the 5th edition of the RR Lyrae and Cepheid meeting, providing a platform for researchers and students to exchange knowledge and foster collaboration.
